23-year-old was stabbed to death. we were there and have that story tonight. reporter: we heard a lot of what you might expect. messages of fighting violent criminals and dumping together. with emotions three days after the murder the event didn t go as planned. there was the moment of silence and prayer and so we pray for peace. but peace requires participation. reporter: there were the calls for neighbors to help each other in the wake of a 23- year-old s murder. i say enough is enough. let s band together. reporter: there was the anger felt over suspect was long criminal records still on the streets. i m frustrated because you can t get people, you can t even get universal commitment to put bad guy was guns in the city in jail and keep them there. reporter: a sentiment repeated by the mayor. we must demand that violent offenders serve real jail time. reporter: the loud applause was for a man who tried to help the 23-year-old after he was stabbed. anothe
morning. wednesday, july 28th, 2010. it is three days later. utility crews are working to restore power to thousands of residents still in the dark after sunday s storms. in northeast washington, electrical wires still hang from trees and rest along the streets. the power could be out for several more days. most of the outages are in maryland, particularly in montgomery county. pepco is working to restore power to more than 25,000 customers there. more than 5,000 customers are in the dark in prince george s county and in the district, a little more than 2300 customers have no electricity. elaine reyes has the latest from gaithersburg. this is pepco s staging area where crews from out of town are waiting for their assignments. the goal is to have most, if not all, the power restored by tomorrow night. there would be such an influx of calls, because we said after 3:00, call 1-877-pepco 62. as anticipated, there was a large volume of calls. it created a problem for our techn
[applause] last, i bring up the general. patricia wright who served as the director of government affairs for the disability rights, education, and defense firm. she served there for 1980-2005. she is widely recognized as the person who brought together all the different elements of the disability rights community. she is one of our chief strategist during the campaign to pull this all together to pass it. patricia wright is back here with us again. thank you, general. the system and now are retired. now i m retired. [unintelligible] i have no more copayment. host: talking about copayments with insurance. guest: fortunately, i have the luxury of not following the health care bill. and we were busy working on the financial reform bill. i am hopeful, along with everyone else in the country, that the health insurance reform will be beneficial. i do not know how it is going to plan and, to pay out, but we can keep our fingers crossed. . . guest: here is where you spread the jobs around some more people have more jobs and benefits and get the economy going. the larger employers can have more of an impact on that. i think it is the kind of thing that you look to a larger employer to set the pattern at a government agency or something like that. and you should suggest that to state and local government, and maybe your congressmen and navy blue will do that in washington. host: robert in boston, massachusetts. caller: thank you for taking my call
they responded down here and it was later determined when they got here it was an apparent malfunctioning of one of our roller coasters. naturally we had quite a response, we re quite full and we had a lot of people visiting, but we had three people injured that were on the ride it. we re not sure exactly what caused the apparent malfunction. people from the amusement park ride safety inspection team from the maryland department of labour and licensing are en route to ocean city to inspect the apparent malfunction. michael, we re talking about the tidal wave, correct, is that the ride? that s correct. any information about the extent of injuries? well, right now, three people were transported. the injuries are believed to be non-life threat engineer, they were conscious when they were transported and have been taken to area hospitals. i have no more information on their injuries, they were conscious and i have information that their injuries were not life-threatening.
