job turned into sudden death and hours of effort to retrieve the victim s body. the call first came out as a rescue in a neighborhood on cold spring lane near morgan state. excavator was moving dirt. the operator stepped on to a ladder. for some reason fell back into the hole in the exterior walls of dirt collapsed and came down on him. reporter: paramedics found the man dead from apparent cardiac work. and rescue turned into hours of work to retrieve the man s body. i commend the baltimore city fire department for the hard work. they risk their lives to help other people. i think it s at miles an hour rabble. reporter: he had been working in this trench about 10 feet deep replacing a residential sear line. so quick, out of nowhere. it just happened so quick. tragic, but sad situation. something that started out so simple cost somebody. reporter: it took most of the afternoon to free the man s body because the same collapse that took his life also threatened those

koch. we re going the start with breaking news. a pedestrian is rushed to the hospital after being hit by a train. derek valcourt has the report. reporter: we are told that a deaf woman stepped in front of the train. this happened just at about 8:20 tonight. we ve caught up with mta spokesman terry owens just a few momenting ago. an operator was approaching the convention center stop, he saw some people on the platform near the rail lines and layed on the horn to let them know that the train was approaching. turns out, both the people could not hear. the woman didn t see the train turned around and stepped out into its path. reporter: we are told that that woman suffered some nonlife threatening injuries. she was rushed over to shock trauma. as you can imagine, that created quite a scene down here, near camden yards where tonight there was a baseball game going on. so there was a lot of traffic out in this area, a lot of foot traffic. they had to temporarily shut down o
