Our Correspondent Diphu, Nov. 1 (EMN): Under the Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS), 2021 for the category – II, a total of 428 women beneficiaries from Karbi Anglong who took loans from various micro-finance institutions, were given relief by the Assam government. The relief cheques were distributed by HAD Minister, Jugen Mohan in the presence of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang in a ceremonial distribution held at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall in Diphu on Tuesday. The minister while addressing the gathering said that Karbi Anglong is no longer a backward district while citing that the district is progressing very fast. He said, “My job is to facilitate the bringing of funds and clear the files as soon as possible. No work will be pending. GUWAHATI: As many as 267 candidates are expected to contest in the first phase of the upcoming Assam Assembly Election slated on March 27.
According to sources out of a total of 297 candidates who have filed their nomination papers for the ensuing elections, 18 candidates have withdrawn their candidature while the nominations of around 10 candidates have been rejected.
Among the key faces who will be contesting the polls in the first phase includes- Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who will be contesting the Assembly elections for a second term from the Majuli seat. He had won from this seat in the 2016 Assembly elections.
