Questions have been raised over the recent delivery of replacement parts for the controversial wind turbines located just over the Bourne town line in Plymouth.
Delivery of the new parts was made via Head of the Bay Road, but some folks wondered why permission to use a town road was not secured from the Bourne Board of Selectmen. Others questioned the townâs integrity at allowing delivery through the town of parts to wind turbines that the Bourne Board of Health has called âa nuisanceâ that interfere with public health.
Notice of the delivery was posted at the Bourne Police Departmentâs Facebook page, advising residents that windmill blades were being delivered between the hours of 1 AM and 4 AM on Friday last week, February 12. The vehicles making the delivery went from Route 25 East to the East Rotary in Buzzards Bay and on to Head of the Bay Road to Keith Mannâs cranberry farm, where the wind turbines are located.

Bourne Town Administrator Anthony E. Schiaviâs first full year on the job has been rewarded with a glowing first performance reviewâand a bonus. Mr. Schiavi was given a $3,000 bonus for a job well done.
The town administratorâs review and bonus were part of the Bourne Board of Selectmenâs remote meeting on Tuesday, January 19. Board chairwoman Judith M. Froman read a review of Mr. Schiaviâs job performance that she compiled, based on her own comments and evaluations, and those submitted to her by the other board members.
âOverall, the town administrator stepped into the top executive position without pause,â Ms. Froman said. âImmediately he worked on many levels as he gained insight into the culture and needs of the town.â
A new Main Street brewery has been given an extension of its sewer allocation, but questions remain about the status of the business, specifically whether the owner stills plan to open in Bourne.
Oak Bay Brewery has been on target to open in the former Asacks Footwear store at 140 Main Street in Buzzards Bay. Brewery owner Brian M. Poulin appeared before the Bourne Board of Sewer Commissioners in December 2019 and requested a wastewater allocation of 2,256 gallons per day for his new business.
The commissioners unanimously approved the request, in part because Town Administrator Anthony E. Schiavi said there were 2,408 gallons of wastewater capacity available out of the 200,000 gallons per day Bourne can send to Warehamâs treatment facility.
