A brave Knaresborough woman who went to school in Harrogate has been recognised in the Queen s Birthday Honours for her remarkable work on road safety.

Lauren Doherty, who is to receive the BEM for services to education, has shown remarkable strength of character since she was in an accident crossing the road on Skipton Road in August 2008.
