The mother suspected of drunken driving in an early Wednesday morning freeway crash that killed her 5-year-old daughter and critically injured her two younger children was identified Thursday as Kapri Raven Coleman.
The 27-year-old San Diego resident was being held in lieu of $1 million bail Thursday night ahead of a scheduled arraignment Friday afternoon at a Vista courthouse. Jail records showed she was being held on suspicion of four felonies, including gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI resulting in death and child cruelty.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Coleman was the driver of a 2009 Hyundai Genesis that around 2:25 a.m. Wednesday veered off the right shoulder of north Interstate 15 near Gopher Canyon Road. The car plunged at least 150 feet down the hillside, where it overturned.
