thank you commissioner. i want to start by expressing our hopes and prayers that the victims of this event will enjoy a quick recovery. they are our primary focus right now. i also want to echo the thanks for the partnership to the nypd, the atf and partners contributing to this investigation. right now, the fbi, nypd joint terrorism task force is fully engaged with the investigation with manpower, technical assistance and everything we can throw at it. we expect the process to be a long one as we gather all possible information to track down all possible leads and i would encourage you as mentioned earlier to reach out to the nypd tip line at 800-577-tips. i would also add as frequently the case in many of our current investigations, everyone has a cell phone in their pocket. there is a lot of video out there. if you have digital information you d like to share with us in
the train and intent on violence. we re conducting a highly coordinated investigation that includes nypd detectives, the fbi, nypd joint terrorism task force and atf instrumental in tracing the firearm and ballistics. the suspect is a dark skinned male wearing a neon orange vest and gray colored sweatshirt. we do have a person of interest in this investigation. but we need the public s assistance with additional information. we re asking anyone with information to call crime stoppers at 800-577-tips. we know this incident is of grave concern to new yorkers. we cannot lose sight of victims in this city. we will use every resource we can to bring those to justice who continue to pray on the citizens of new york. i ll ask chief james to give details of the investigation.

Statement by FBI Special Agent in Charge Suzanne Turner on Potential Violence in San Diego and Imperial Counties
The FBI’s San Diego Field Office, leading the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and working with all of our other local, state, and federal partners, is preparing for any potential violent activity related to the recent unrest in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere.
Given the unrest at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, we are maintaining a heightened posture to monitor for any emerging threats to our area of responsibility and throughout the country. We are focused on identifying, investigating, and disrupting individuals who were involved in the siege of the U.S. Capitol and/or those who may continue to incite violence and engage in criminal activity here locally and throughout the United States.
