The topic was first brought to the dais in June 2021 by former Councilwoman Joy Brenner, who said the proposal came from the Corona del Mar Residents' Assn.
Mayor Noah Blom was elected to the dais in 2020. Blom was named mayor pro tem for 2021. Mayor Pro Tem Will O'Neill was mayor in 2020 and was reelected to the dais that same year.
Barricades were initially installed in November 2021 and removed in June by the city, but no action has since been taken to address ongoing concerns about traffic.
