The review of fees collected by City Hall, which this year was done by ClearSource Financial Consulting in Aptos, is routine and occurs every three to five years, according to Newport Beach city staff.
The Newport Beach Planning Commission approved the pump station project in late January. That decision was unsuccessfully appealed to the City Council on Tuesday night.
The landslide at the back of three homes on Galaxy Drive reportedly occurred at around 4 a.m. The property owners at one of the addresses had just reached out to the city Wednesday, concerned about the bluff's stability.
