LSU remained No. 1 for the second week in a row and the third time this season. The Tigers were aided by Terrance Laird, who turned in the third-fastest mark over 100 meters on the Descending Order List at 10.06 this past weekend at the Boots Garland Invitational. Not to be outdone, Sean Burrell went 50.15 for what is now the seventh-fastest mark this season. Southern California jumped two spots from No. 4 to No. 2 after a strong weekend. The Trojans added or improved two national top-15 marks to their ledger at the Long Beach Invitational – none bigger than McKay Johnson’s 19.95m (65-5½) heave in the shot put that ranks him fourth on the seasonal chart. Johnson owns one of seven national top-10 marks by USC.
