A 22-year-old Gainesville man turned himself in to law enforcement officials Tuesday in connection with the shooting of a man at a local car wash.
Eugene Javon Patrick turned himself in Tuesday at the Alachua County Jail, Gainesville police said in a news release.
Patrick had been sought on a second-degree murder arrest warrant in connection with the death of Bobby Bernard Hopkins Jr., who was shot May 22 at Swamp Car Wash, 912 E. University Ave.
Most of the information in the Patrick s case file in the court system is sealed and not public record at this point.
His bond remains at $1 million.

A 28-year-old Gainesville man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the January death of a man whose body was found at a car wash.
The body of Thomas Smith, 33, was discovered early Jan. 7 at Swamp Car Wash, 912 E. University Ave. Police would not say at the time how Smith died or whether they suspected he d been killed, but asked anyone with information to share to call a detective.
In a news release issued Tuesday evening, police said they had arrested Jovante Deometre Jackson earlier in the day. Court records show Jackson is charged with first-degree murder and destroying evidence, but no other documentation was available.
