A 28-year-old Gainesville man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the January death of a man whose body was found at a car wash.
The body of Thomas Smith, 33, was discovered early Jan. 7 at Swamp Car Wash, 912 E. University Ave. Police would not say at the time how Smith died or whether they suspected he'd been killed, but asked anyone with information to share to call a detective.
In a news release issued Tuesday evening, police said they had arrested Jovante Deometre Jackson earlier in the day. Court records show Jackson is charged with first-degree murder and destroying evidence, but no other documentation was available.
