The Cascade County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Vaughn man with five counts of felony criminal endangerment after he allegedly fired a gun several times, with one bullet passing through several bedrooms in a home where children were present.
Christopher Lance Amato, 37, is in the Cascade County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
The following information comes directly from court documents. The defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty.
According to charging documents, CCSO responded to a residence in Vaughn on May 23 for a report of a male firing a gun in the home.
On his way to the scene, the responding deputy learned that Amato’s common-law spouse, his ex-girlfriend and three children (ages 9, 10 and 17) were at the home when the alleged shooting occurred.

Even before the Legislature denied Levine’s confirmation, data from Montana’s judiciary showed that Cascade County, which has heard an average of 5,453 cases per year since 2011, was short 2.59 judges in 2020.
