Apex Legends devs are looking into teammate fill and loot issues
Apex Legends’ latest season hasn’t enjoyed the smoothest of launches. The servers were overloaded on launch day, and even when people did get in, they were confronted with matchmaking issues, cosmetic troubles, and some low-poly versions of Apex Legends characters – I guess we’re all going the way of Valheim. Everything is looking rosier now, though some issues remain.
Apex Legends has been dealing with a pesky bug that sends players – read: me – into duo matches on their lonesome. Even before the Legacy update, I couldn’t solo queue duos and had to try my luck in trios. Respawn hoped to fix this with the latest update, but it looks like the bug has persevered. It’s always been strong whether it was tucked away in a Care Package or found in the floor loot pool, but recently, it’s been elevated to the status of a meta-defining weapon that you’re pretty much guaranteed to see in any match that runs for a reasonable amount of time. Apex Legends developers hinting that the weapon may soon be adjusted in the game’s next update.
The two big pieces of information are surrounding the size of the patch and the meta surrounding the Mastiff shotgun. The director of community and communications at Respawn, Ryan K. Rigney, said in a tweet, “Apex 8.1 patch notes are >3,000 words, sorry in advance.” For those looking for a major overhaul of certain systems and playstyles, this comes as a welcome surprise.

For comparison, the patch notes for the Season 8 update were only just over 1,500 words as pointed out by a user in the comments. A patch double that size for 8.1 means some major changes might be underway. Devs have acknowledged certain fans’ wishes to keep the “Locked and Loaded” game mode as a permanent addition, but that doesn’t seem like it would be the only change made in the 8.1 patch notes.
