The York County Sheriff’s Office has charged 10 people in a sex investigation, saying they targeted suspects from several states who sought underage children online. That according to County Sheriff Kevin Tolson who said they targeted what were believed to be underage girls, between the ages of 10 and 17, through online apps. 5 suspects were from South Carolina and 5 were from North Carolina, including one who is a registered sex offender released from federal prison earlier this Spring. A Fort Mill location was used by police to lure in 7 of the suspects. The other 3 were arrested after online activity was found to be criminal. The FBI, Homeland Security, SLED and several other police agencies were involved in the operation, which took place from March 10th to the 14th.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, 10 suspected child predators have been arrested as a result of the multi-day “Operation Home Alone” investigation. The York County Sheriff’s Office says they conducted the operation with the assistance of 13 other law enforcement agencies including the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, South Carolina Attorney Generals’ Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations, US Secret Service, York Police Department, Rock Hill Police Department, Fort Mill Police Department, Mount Pleasant Police Department, Charleston Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

York County deputies have charged 10 people in a sex investigation targeting suspects from several states who sought underage children over the Internet, York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson said.
At a news conference Monday, Tolson said the defendants targeted what the defendants believed were underage girls through online apps.
Five of the suspects are from South Carolina, and five are from North Carolina.
One of the suspects from North Carolina is a registered sex offender who early in March was released from federal prison, officials said.
