CATSKILL â The day after Christmas, local restaurant owner Cheryl Bergendorff found out her business, La Conca Dâoro, was among 38 small businesses across the nation to receive support from The Barstool Fund.
The Barstool Fund, spearheaded by Barstool Sports, a digital media company that focuses on sports and pop culture, is raising funds to support small businesses during the pandemic. Barstool Sports had raised over $9 million as of Tuesday.
La Conca Dâoro, an Italian eatery at 440 Main St., Catskill, has been owned by Bergendorff for almost 25 years.
The amount of the grant has not yet been determined.
âLa Conca Dâoro is a Catskill institution,â Bergendorff said. âI myself have owned it almost 25 years. My daughter has helped me. Itâs been a woman-owned and operated business.â

CATSKILL â With the yearâs first winter storm on the way, itâs time for village residents to break out their skates.
After being set back by warm weather last year, the village has prepared the ice skating rink at Elliott Park.
The Department of Public Works was putting the finishing touches on the rink Tuesday, Village Trustee Joseph Kozloski said.
âIt should be open as soon as the ice is thick enough to skate on,â Kozloski said, adding that the cold temperatures later this week will help.
The rink is located on an 80-foot-by-120-foot fenced-in blacktop surface. The village purchased a liner for the rink in 2019 for $1,200.
