Restaurant receives Christmas gift

CATSKILL — The day after Christmas, local restaurant owner Cheryl Bergendorff found out her business, La Conca D’oro, was among 38 small businesses across the nation to receive support from The Barstool Fund.
The Barstool Fund, spearheaded by Barstool Sports, a digital media company that focuses on sports and pop culture, is raising funds to support small businesses during the pandemic. Barstool Sports had raised over $9 million as of Tuesday.
La Conca D’oro, an Italian eatery at 440 Main St., Catskill, has been owned by Bergendorff for almost 25 years.
The amount of the grant has not yet been determined.
“La Conca D’oro is a Catskill institution,” Bergendorff said. “I myself have owned it almost 25 years. My daughter has helped me. It’s been a woman-owned and operated business.”
