We've all seen the Cubs make a lot of hits in a game and still lose.
Since 1901, they have made 11 hits while being shut out 7 times, and 10 hits without scoring 10 times.
They once made 15 hits.
A previous post reported that the Cubs have lost 19 games that ended with a runner being thrown out on a straight steal attempts, and 6 that concluded with a tag on a pickoff.
That's a total of 25.
After perusing my recent post about games that the Cubs won a strikeout/throwout doubleplay, constant reader Ernaga commented, in part, "how many Cubs losses have ended either by a pick-off at.
A previous post looked at games in which the Cubs gave up the most runs, all unearned (7, three times), and most unearned runs, period (12, once).
Of course, the Cubs have been the beneficiaries.
