How healthy are the Gophers?
This probably would ve been a good time for Richard Pitino and his Gophers to have a bye week with so many players banged up and dealing with nagging injuries.
They don t call it the dog days of February for nothing. No team is fully healthy, but Pitino is going into the final stretch run of Big Ten play without several Gophers at full strength.
Prior to Wednesday s pregame warmups at Indiana, the Gophers announced starting junior guard
Gabe Kalscheur is out indefinitely with a hand injury suffered in practice. Having to replace Kalscheur is a significant loss as a scorer and the team s best perimeter defender.

Looking back on his first seven years as Gophers men s basketball coach, Richard Pitino always wondered what would ve happened if his team hadn t been hit by the injury bug at the wrong time.
This season, the Gophers avoided any serious injuries this season until recently. Starting guard and co-captain Gabe Kalscheur broke a finger on his right shooting hand Tuesday. Center Liam Robbins has struggled with a bad ankle sprain.
After years of having injuries derail the success of previous teams, Pitino hopes his players can regroup quickly during a critical final stretch to earn an NCAA tournament bid.

Foul trouble for Robbins
In the first four wins against ranked opponents for the Gophers this season,
Liam Robbins looked the part of a top-five center in the Big Ten. The 7-foot junior averaged 21.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks to help lead his team to victories against Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Iowa.
One thing those games had in common was Robbins avoiding foul trouble, not having more than three fouls in any of them. The Drake transfer provides a game-changing inside presence when he s on the floor, but the Gophers struggle mightily to replace him when Robbins is on the bench.
