Falling Trees: An Underreported, Deadly Danger During Severe Weather

Raegan Mae Lee, 22 months old, was asleep in her bed when a tree fell on her family s home in Pearl River County, Mississippi, in the early-morning hours of April 24.
The little girl was killed, one of several victims of falling trees during recent bouts of severe weather in the South, and among the many killed by weather-felled trees every year in the United States. She could always put a smile on your face with her little smile and chubby cheeks, Lainey Aschenbach wrote on a fundraising page established for the Lee family. She loved to play outside and loved to play with her big brother.
Evacuations Lifted in Arizona Wildfire

Residents in an small Arizona town that had been evacuated due to a wildfire were allowed to return home Saturday.
The fire had forced the evacuation of the entire community of Dudleyville, and and burned several structures.
Fire activity had picked up Friday afternoon amid warm, windy weather but the blaze moved away from the town.
The evacuation order, in place since Thursday, was lifted at 1 p.m. MST Saturday, according to the Pinal County Sheriff s Office. Residents were adviced to remain ready to leave again if necessary.
Arizona Wildfire More Active, But Moving Away From Evacuated Town

An Arizona wildfire that forced the evacuation of an entire community and burned several structures picked up steam again Friday afternoon amid warm, windy weather.
The good news? It was moving away from Dudleyville, the small town evacuated on Thursday. Crews are being assisted by a dozer to help secure southern edge of fire, the state Department of Forestry and Fire Management said in a tweet late Friday afternoon. The fire continues to move south and away from Dudleyville.
The town remained in evacuation status. Flames destroyed at least 12 buildings.
