NEW DELHI: India s comeback win in Melbourne to level the ongoing four-match Test series in Australia has sent out a huge message to not just the Australian camp but to opposition teams the world over -that this team doesn t rely on star power and that it has enough quality strength on the bench to win.
The eight-wicket win in the second Test of the series in Melbourne becomes more special when you look at what happened to the visitors coming into this match.
The first Test, which was a day-night encounter saw both teams having the upper hand at different stages of the match. But it ended with what was a morale crushing performance by the Indian team. They were bowled out for their lowest Test innings total of 36 in their second innings and as a result lost the match by eight wickets inside three days.

One of the stars of the first Australian cricket tour of England has become the first Aboriginal inducted to the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
Johnny Mullagh was part of the 1868 Aboriginal team that became the country s first sporting team to tour internationally.
The Hall of Fame chairman said Mullagh contributed to Australia s identity.
It was an oversight not to have recognised the importance of the 1868 team before now, Peter King added.
Australian Cricket Hall of Fame chairman Peter King says an oversight has finally been corrected, with Indigenous star Johnny Mullagh given the recognition he and his trailblazing team deserves. King revealed on Monday that Mullagh, the best player on the 1868 Aboriginal team that was Australia s first to tour England, would be the sport s maiden Indigenous inductee when the latest three-person intake is confirmed at the Cricket Australia awards night in February.
