wake up! wake up, wake up, wake up! up you wake, up you wake! jennifer: progressives, just like samuel l. jackson did in the spike lee film, do the right thing i m calling you to wake the heck up. many of you assume that everybody thinks like we do so maybe you decide you don t have to get active because obviously the president s going to win or maybe you don t like one of his policies so you re going to protest by sitting this election out. let me tell you sitting it out is going to make you an accomplice in electing president romney. last night i interviewed jill stein, the presidential candidate for the green party on the show. i confess right now, i should have asked her to just get out of the race. now don t freak out enviros, it is not because i don t love her positions. i m all about renewable energy and policies. i m as disappointed as anyone the president hasn t been able to get a clean energy policy through a just say no congress. but that is the point. he can t
patriot, to be poe pro-american? the daily beast ran a great article today praising the president s ad where mitt romney sings america the beautiful over the images of the cayman islands and switzerland empty factories. the author noted that mitt romney and republicans and tea party patriots really embraced the flag but then they turn around disrespect it by doing things that are decidedly unpatriotic. the author wrote being a good american means doing what s right in civic terms, not what you and your team of lawyers figure you can get away with. by this definition, romney is the un-american and it would be a glorious thing indeed if he became the pivot on which we turned to a definition of patriotism that rendered behavior like his appear roberious or disgraceful. selfishness is not patriotic so i ask you mitt, it is pro-american to take everything you can get away with like a $77,000 write-off for a dressage horse or place your money in a foreig

it was one small step in the evolution of the president, but one giant leap for this country. here president obama is describing how he came to his risky but very courageous decision to support gay marriage. when i think about members of my own staff who are incredibly committed monogamous same-sex relationships who are racing kids together. and i think about those soldiers, our airmen or marines there are times we cut that off a little but you get the picture, but there are really times when the mere words of a true leader can help change the course of history. kennedy told us to ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country, and today may 9th, 2012, remember this day. it is a new era. the president of the united states publicly supported the ability to marry the person of our choosing. equality and personal freedom wrapped in red white and blue. isn t that magnificent freedom what true conservatives and libertarianing are clamoring for
ohio, which was the very same county president obama was in yesterday. notice their very different takes on the current state of the economy. under president obama these regulations have been crushing, burden some. the regulators see their job as pushing back on enterprise. if i am the president of the united states, we are going to rein back these regulations, say no to the regulations of the obama years and put people back to work. they keep telling us if we just weaken regulations but keep our air and water clean and protect our consumers, if we just cut everybody s taxes and convert these investments in community colleges and research and into health care into tax cuts especially for the wealthy, that somehow, the economy is going to get stronger. so for more on the romney shadowing strategy, we are going to turn to washington. boston globe matt viser. welcome inside the war room. thank you for having me. so why is romney playing this game of follow-the-leader?
