Subaru UK has made a trio of leadership appointments in a bid to drive forward its recovery from its registrations slump in a COVID-hit 2020 trading period.
Subaru has announced that its first fully electric vehicle (EV) will be named Solterra.
The C-segment SUV, which has been developed as part of a partnership with Toyota, is scheduled to go on sale in Europe by the middle of 2022.
The brand said its new e-Subaru EV platform will underpin various types of EVs following the launch of the Solterra.
Commenting in the results of its Toyota collaboration, the brand said: “While the two companies have brought together their knowledge to create a completely new platform, Subaru have aimed to realize superior passive safety and vehicle stability, which Subaru has always been pursuing, also in this BEV dedicated platform.”

Subaru UK has made four new additions to its franchised car retail network as part of plans to appoint 15 new dealers in 2020.
The Japanese car brand – imported to the UK by Midlands-based IM Group – has added Livery Dole in Exeter, Tees Valley in Darlington, Ullswater Road Garage in Penrith, and Ashby & Mann in Hinckley so far this year.
Another 10 dealers are due to join the network by the end of summer, including Somerset Vauxhall retailer Rowcliffes and Swansea-based Mitsubishi dealer Celtic.
Subaru UK managing director, John Hurtig, said: “Despite a challenging 12 months, Subaru continues to be one of the fastest growing automotive brands in the UK, bolstered by the award-winning SUV range.

wLivery Dole, Tees Valley and Ullswater Road Garage have opened new Subaru UK dealerships as part of a âroots-upâ restructure of the brandâs franchised car retail network aiming to add 10 new locations in the first half of 2021.
Mirroring the growth plans of Isuzu UK â a fellow Japanese brand managed by UK distributor IM Group â the carmakerâs network has gotten off to a fast start and is aiming to end the year with no fewer than 15 new franchised sites.
First to add new showrooms this year are: Livery Dole, Exeter; Tees Valley, Darlington; and Ullswater Road Garage, Penrith.
The 2021 Subaru Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek aren t selling in Europe. Subaru reports a 39.6 percent decrease in 2020, in line with other automakers. Subaru only sold 935 cars in the entire UK market in 2020. Subaru sold 19,966 units in the European market.

Subaru s volume in Europe is so small that it s now classified as a niche manufacturer. In contrast, Subaru of America delivered 611,942 all-wheel-drive models to customers in the U.S. It s why Subaru Corporation will prioritize its North American operations and customers.
