Donegal s prayers seldom go unanswered at Ballybofey

On these placid, sun-soaked summer days the location of MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey is reminiscent of the mood captured by the photographs of John Hinde and his idyllic postcards of old Ireland. The stand is low and unobtrusive, the terracing hemming in a broad, lush field bordered to the rear by the River Finn. At the other end of the ground the twin town of Ballybofey, separated from its partner Stranorlar by a bridge, hums to the business of match day, the pilgrims gathered to Donegal football’s most beloved place of worship.
