The game ended 4-0 meaning the side were lifting their second cup.

The Mail readers express anger after Barrow Island play park blaze

One fire engine from Barrow Fire Station was called out to the blaze on Monday night. The duty manager said: We were called out to a small fire at the playpark. The fire has been extinguished and there were no injuries suffered. Sam Kate Butler said: We live round this area and it s so sad to see that somebody has done this, the poor children are absolutely devastated since we have only had the new park for a few year. John Eccles said: We need to find those responsible. Too many arson attacks lately. There was one the other week by Vue and now this. It is mindless vandalism and could of put lives at risk with the toxic smoke.

Recently the store’s bosses announced the department store will finally close on May 12. Barrow Business Improvement District manager Colin Garnett revealed he hopes to speak to the ‘powers that be’, such as Barrow Borough Council, about what could fill the empty unit. John Eccles said: “Make it into an indoor shopping centre like Westmorland Shopping Centre and incorporate the two units either side.” Darren Gill said: “Give the building a vote by the public of what goes there next, then the powers that be have to listen to what the public want.” Helen Grave said: “Shopping arcade.” Alan Davis said: “Town has enough flats.”

Call for more security measures after deliberate fire at Portland Walk Car Park in Barrow

More security measures have been called for after police and firefighters were called to a fire in a town centre car park which was reportedly started by youths. Police and firefighters went to the Portland Walk Car Park in Barrow just before 7pm on Sunday and said there was no-one was at the scene when they arrived, but the latter urged youths to stop lighting deliberate fires. Readers of The Mail have put forward their ideas for how to tackle the problem, with increased cameras and deterrents among the suggestions.
