Edmund Bushell abandoned his job in December 2014 and was not dismissed by the Barbados Light & Power.
That was the ruling of the Employment Rights Tribunal (ERT) in a decision delivered by chair of the panel Emmerson Graham QC. Member Edward Bushell and Graham agreed on that position while third member of the panel, Beverley Beckles, had a dissenting opinion.
Edmund, an electrical technician who worked with the company from 2000 to 2014, was represented by attorney John Collymore. Michael Koeiman appeared for the BL&P.
Edmund was selected as a Barbados Workers’ Union delegate between 2012 and 2014 when the company was negotiating the Collective Bargaining Agreement. (AC)
