A Williamson County man who forced a neighborhood evacuation Tuesday threatened to burn down his house, kill law enforcement officers and commit suicide just days after authorities served him divorce papers last month, court papers show. John Christopher Crawson, 47, is charged with making terroristic threats in connection to this week s incident at his home outside Round Rock. Officials say they found homemade bombs in his house, prompting an evacuation of nearby homes. Authorities arrested Crawson on the felony charge Tuesday at his home in the 2500 block of Santa Barbara Loop. Sheriff’s Lt. Jason Braeutigam said investigators found multiple improvised explosive devices there when officers executed a search warrant.

Detectives with the Williamson County Sheriff s office have arrested a 47-year-old man Tuesday morning after an investigation by deputies found several improvised explosive devices (IEDs) inside his Texas home.  John Christopher Crawson (Photo courtesy of Williamson County Sheriff s Office) At approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday, John Christopher Crawson was arrested for the offense of terroristic threat against a family member a third-degree felony at his home located at 2564 Santa Barbara Loop, outside the city limits of Round Rock, Texas.  After police executed a search warrant and found the explosives inside Crawson s home, the sheriff s office immediately called in the Austin Police Department Bomb Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to assist with the situation.

A man was accused of making multiple homemade bombs in his Williamson County home outside Round Rock, prompting authorities to evacuate neighboring homes Tuesday. The Williamson County sheriff’s office said 47-year-old John Christopher Crawson was charged with making a terroristic threat against a family member, a third-degree felony. Authorities didn’t offer more details about the family situation, but neighbors say Crawson and his wife were going through an ugly divorce. Officials said an investigation revealed that Crawson had made improvised explosive devices inside his home at 2564 Santa Barbara Loop, outside the Round Rock city limits. The Austin Police Department s bomb unit and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were called to the scene to help remove the devices.
