Healthcare workers across the nation have been lukewarm in their interest to receive the available COVID-19 vaccinations.
Those healthcare professionals were at the forefront of the national, state, and local priority lists to receive the vaccines when they became available in January.
However, only slightly more than 50% of nurses, aides, and physicians have been inoculated with either the Pfiser or the Moderna vaccines.
In Sheridan, willingness to receive the vaccine has been surprisingly positive compared to the national hesitancy, according to Sheridan Memorial Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Addlesperger…
Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty also reported that the percentage of medical staff receiving the vaccine was around 87%.
The hospital is continuing to work through Priority list 1b and focusing on area residents 70 years of age and older.
Dr. Addlesperger also announced that the hospital is now scheduled to receive two allotments of the Pfiser vaccine each month which corresponds to nearly 2400 doses monthly…
