Janessa Ekert Journalist I didn’t always want to be a journalist. In fact, when I was younger my dream was to be an archaeologist – who wouldn’t want to be like Indiana Jones? However, now that I am a journalist, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life.
I love listening to people’s stories and sharing them with others.
I’m a Queenslander through and though. Mackay is the furthest south I have ever lived. I’m an only child and I was raised in Airlie Beach.
My parents are former boaties; we lived on a 42 foot.
As a result police went into the home and woke Kaddatz. Mr Coburn told the court she was rude and intoxicated and when asked her name said none of your f ing business. When warned that she was being issued with a noise abatement direction and required to provide her name, she stated suck my d , Mr Coburn said. The court heard not long after the officers left the home, they heard the 52 year old clearly yelling suck my d c s as loud music was again played. When police returned she was again rude and tried to close the door on the officers when they told her to turn the music down saying it was only 7pm.
âMy client says he didnât expect she would fly backwards on the floor but he accepted that she did,â Defence solicitor Peter Clark, of Strutynski Law, said.
He said Blizzard âreacted very very badlyâ to a third party âjumping in with their five centsâ.
However Acting Magistrate John Aberdeen, in reading over the facts, said the scenario was a little different.
âLetâs sort of put this in perspective,â Mr Aberdeen said.
The court heard the woman alleged she told Blizzard, âyou need to have some respect, stop pushing your mother aroundâ.
âTo which (Blizzard) replies âyou f ing old c , Iâm sick of you having contact with my mother, Iâll kill you, youâre nothing but a piece of f ing sh t, now f off you old sl t,â Mr Aderbeen read from the police statement.
It is alleged he coughed directly in the face of a police officer while claiming he had COVID and threatened an officer by saying “she’ll get what’s coming to her”.
Mackay Magistrates Court heard Mr Barratt lived near the officer he allegedly threatened and there were further allegations he made comments about knowing where she lived.
Mr Barratt lived in a caravan on a Jubilee Pocket property with his three dogs.
“Your bail has troubled me considerably over the past week,” Acting Magistrate John Aberdeen said.

UPDATE: A Whitsunday man who allegedly threatened police and coughed in a cop s face after claiming he had COVID-19 will spend another night in custody as a magistrate considers whether or not to grant bail. Acting Magistrate John Aberdeen told Mackay Magistrates Court he still had concerns about Christopher Leigh Barratt in relation to granting bail. The freedom bid was heard on Tuesday with the case adjourned to Wednesday for a decision, however Mr Aberdeen asked Mr Barratt s solicitor, Rosie Varley, to talk to her client about a possible new bail address and wearing an ankle monitor.
