Germany claimed an emphatic victory in the final men’s relay competition of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) World Cup season, but it was Norway who came away with the crystal globe after a third-place finish in Nové Město na Moravě.
Phillip Nawrath, Erik Lesser, Benedikt Doll and Arnd Peiffer took control in the first leg of the 4x7.5km relay and did not look back in a dominant performance in the Czech Republic.
Using just five spare rounds, Germany finished in a winning time of 1hr 12min 28.1sec with Nawrath anchoring his team to their first relay victory in four years.

Sturla Holm Lægreid will look to mount pressure on overall leader Johannes Thingnes Bø when the International Biathlon (IBU) Union World Cup resumes in Nové Město na Moravě in the Czech Republic.
Norway s Lægreid is on a high after winning four gold medals at last month’s IBU World Championships, including victories in the 20-kilometre individual and 15km mass start competitions.
Fellow countryman Bø picked up golds in the men’s and mixed team relays but failed to top the podium in the four individual races in Pokljuka in Slovenia.
Bø leads the World Cup standings on 871 points with three stages to go but Lægreid, who sits on 839, will be determined to reduce the 32-point gap.

Austria’s Lisa Theresa Hauser new biathlete world champion
Austria’s Lisa Theresa Hauser won a 12.5-kilometre mass start event for women at the Biathlon World Championships in Slovenia’s Pokljuka on Sunday for what is the first world champion title of her career.
Norway’s Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold was 21.7 seconds behind the new world champion to place second, ahead of her fellow compatriot Tiril Eckhoff, who finished 23 seconds behind the winner.
The last women’s race at this year’s championships brought a surprise after the very first shooting as the favourites had to do the penalty loop.
