One such nobleman was Prince Karl von Lichnowsky, who used a string quartet for his house concerts. It was here that Beethoven&#39;s three piano trios, later known as Opus 1, were first performed.</p> <p>The composition of these trios marked Beethoven&#39;s initial use of opus numbers and showcased his complete mastery of the classical style.
