[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] captioned by the national captioning institute www.ncicap.org live, local, late breaking. violent storms swept to maryland, uprooting trees and knocking out power in the middle of a heatwave. good morning and welcome to 11 news saturday morning. from searing heat, the weather is our big story this morning. winds topping 60 miles an hour. let s check in with john collins. good morning. winds were in the 70 to almost 80 miles an hour west of baltimore. what went through here is a term to a storm that really got its start west of chicago and was a powerful and damaging storm of away from the midwest into the mid-atlantic region. you can see on the radar that the departing storm, the one that caused the problems last night, it is off the new jersey coast right now. the damage stretched from southern pennsylvania down into virginia. you will note with caution there is another storm leaving chicago that is similar.
