Records tumbled in Horsham as the mercury fell to a mind-numbing -4.3°C, its coldest May morning in 64 years of records. It was also the coldest May morning on record for Yarram (-3.3°C) and Kanagulk (-4.0°C), although these observation sites have only been around for 13 and 17 years respectively.

Tropical cyclone Seroja gathers strength as it heads towards WA
Western Australians have been warned of a strengthening tropical cyclone heading towards them from Indonesian waters.
Tropical Cyclone Seroja formed near the Timor Island north of Western Australia in the early hours of Monday morning, Weatherzone meteorologist
 Joel Pippard said.
Earlier today, Seroja was producing winds of up to 100km/h and is expected to gain strength as it tracks down parallel to the WA coast later this week.

The system had a high chance of becoming at least a category 3 severe tropical cyclone by Wednesday and possibly becoming a category 4 later on, Mr Pippard said.
Here s your state-by-state weather forecast for Monday, January 18:
New South Wales and the ACT
A few showers and the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Dry and mostly sunny over the remainder. Daytime temperatures mostly near average.
South to southwesterly winds in the west, west to southwesterly in the southeast, and northwest to northeasterly in the northeast.
Sea breezes possible along southern parts of the coast.
Sydney can expect a top temperature of 29C and Canberra 31C.
Victoria
Mild and partly cloudy in the south, warm and sunny in the north. Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast.
More than 90 per cent of the current monthly total has fallen in the past five days. It is now the wettest December on record. With the whole month now at 304.6mm it beats all those records for December dating back to 1867, Weatherzone meteorologist Joel Pippard said. There has been 274.6mm at Grafton in the last five days which is a huge amount of rainfall. It is very unusual to get it all so close together. We ve seen a very slow moving coastal trough which has almost stalled. There is a high pressure system off the coast of New Zealand that hasn t allowed it to move very much.
