The richest day of harness racing in British Columbia is set for Sunday (Nov. 6), with four $100,000 final races featured on B.C. Breeders Classic Day at Fraser Downs.
Sophomores were the stars of the show Monday evening at Fraser Downs as the oval hosted leg three of the Mary Murphy for filly pacers and the Robert Murphy Memorial for colt and gelding pacers.
Fraser Downs hosted pacing sophomores for the second round of the Robert Murphy Memorial, for colts and geldings, and the Mary Murphy Memorial, for fillies, on Thursday night (Oct. 6).
Trainer Kelly Hoerdt collected three victories on the 10-race card Thursday night (Sept. 29) at Fraser Downs including a victory in one of the four stakes prelims and in the co-featured $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace.
Earlier this year, "Cow," Andrea Arnold s heart-rendering documentary about a sweet-faced bovine, living her life at a (reasonably) compassionate dairy farm in England, was released to significant acclaim. Though animal lovers might have viewed it as a film about the continued exploitation of farm animals for human profit, Arnold herself tried to keep her own feelings on the subject out of the text, as it were.
