Clarks Green council receives a clean audit

Listen to this CLARKS GREEN At the Clarks Green council meeting July 21, Leah Rosencrans, partner of the accounting firm Murphy, Dougherty, & Company, presented council an audit for the year 2020. She gave a modified approval based on the way council budgets its accounts. “It was a clean audit,” she said. Rosencrans went through the general fund with council. She reported that the balance for Dec. 21, 2020, was $288,739 an increase of $6,590 for the year. She also reported the revenue to be $603,000 an expenditure of $597,000. She said that council budgeted to decrease the fund balance by $835,000 but was able to increase it by $6,000. She then announced the liquid fuels balance to be approximately $76,000, which is a decrease of about $37,000 for the year. She said that the expenditures in the liquid fuels fund were for paving in 2020.

Listen to this CLARKS GREEN At the Clarks Green Council meeting June 16, Dr. Terry Cochran, in his health and safety report, talked about a police contract that Clarks Summit submitted to Clarks Green Council. He said that the committee discussed it in the work session. “We don’t believe in defunding the police, which we’ve been accused of,” he said. “We haven’t done anything without the authority of council.” Cochran announced the provisions in the contract including a 0% increase in 2022, a 3% increase in 2023, a 3% increase in 2023, a 3% increase in 2024, a 3% increase in 2025, and a 3% increase in 2026. He mentioned that this totals to 12%.

Clarks Green plans bid packages for paving program

Listen to this CLARKS GREEN During the Clarks Green Council meeting via Zoom May 19, councilman Dave Rinaldi said that he distributed cost estimates that the engineers made for the 2021 paving program. He said that there are two spots that need surface repair on a yearly basis, and that the main part of the project is on the block of 100 Possum Way. He said that the intersection of Armstrong Avenue and Evans Street will be alternates in the bid package. Rinaldi pointed out the difference between the two alternates is just the square yards of pavement. He said that the estimate of Alternate 1 is 280 yards and Alternate 2 is 450 yards. Council voted to authorize engineers to do the bid package and advertise for bids.
