East Lansing, Mich. – The Nebraska baseball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday with a 4-2 loss to the Michigan State Spartans. The series is now even at 1-1 and the teams will meet in the rubber match tomorrow at 11 AM (CT). The Huskers managed just five hits, but did walk six times, on Saturday and stranded 10 base runners.
Luke Roskam led the offense with a pair of hits, including a solo home run. Michigan State produced eight hits on the day, including a total of five from its No. 8 and 9 hitters. Zach Iverson went 3-for-3 and Brock Vradenburg was 2-2, with the duo combining for three RBIs.

Cade Povich tossed 7.0 shutout innings and improved to 4-1 on the year, as the Nebraska baseball team (19-6) reeled off its fifth consecutive win with a 4-0 series-opening victory over the Michigan State Spartans (11-16) on Friday at McLane Stadium. Nebraska’s offense made the most of its seven hits, scoring a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Povich matched a career-high with 7.0 innings of work and allowed just four hits, while striking out five. Left-hander
Jake Bunz continued to be lights out in relief, as the Elkhorn South product allowed just one hit and struck out three in 2.0 innings of scoreless relief behind Povich. In his 10.2 innings of work out of the bullpen this season Bunz has yet to allow a run.
Pitching: RHP TV/Streaming: BTN+ The Nebraska baseball team (18-6) kept its hold on the top spot in the Big Ten standings with a three-game sweep at Penn State last weekend. The Huskers will look to continue their winning ways this weekend when they visit East Lansing, Mich., for a three-game series against the Michigan State Spartans (11-15).
The series opener at McLane Stadium is scheduled for Friday at 4 PM (CT) and it will be carried nationally on the Big Ten Network. The series continues on Saturday at 2 PM and wraps up on Sunday at 11 AM.
The Huskers enter the weekend winners in 13 of their last 15 games and continue to hold a 1/2 game lead over the Michigan Wolverines (18-7) for the top spot in the league. Nebraska is 12-5 away from Lincoln this season, including a 7-2 record in true road games.

Luke Roskam all drove in a pair of runs for Nebraska, which has won 12 of its last 14 and will remain in first place in the Big Ten heading into Sunday’s action.

Joe Acker and Hallmark reached after back-to-back singles before coming home on Schwellenbach’s two-run double. After a one-out double by Anderson put runners on second and third, Roskam cleared the bases with a two-run single to stake NU to a four-run lead.
