The Nebraska baseball team (14-5) took game one of the three-game series against Maryland (9-11) 6-2. The Huskers have now won nine of their last ten games and are undefeated in five games at home.
The regular Friday starter,
Cade Povich got the start again for NU and came out dealing early on. The junior gave up no hits in the first three innings and only allowed two base runners. Following that,
Povich got into a bit of a jam in the fourth inning when he gave up a base hit, then with two outs the Terrapins loaded the bases and the junior walked in a run. Following that run,

Lincoln – The Nebraska baseball team (14-5) picked up its ninth win over its last 10 games with a 6-2 victory against the Maryland Terrapins (9-11) in Friday’s series opener at Hawks Field. The Huskers were led at the plate by leadoff hitter
Joe Acker, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles and two runs scored. Freshman Bryce Matthews delivered from the bottom of the lineup, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
Spencer Schwellenbach also added a pair of hits and drove in three runs, while also pitching a scoreless ninth to end the game.
TV/Streaming: BTN+ The Nebraska baseball team (13-5) returns to Hawks Field this weekend for its second home series of the 2021 season, as the Huskers welcome the Maryland Terrapins (9-10) to Lincoln. The Huskers are 4-0 at home this season, while the Terrapins are 4-7 away from Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium, including a 3-2 record in true road games.
The series is scheduled to open on Friday night at 6:30 PM. The game was originally scheduled for 2 PM, but once it was announced that fans could attend home games the Nebraska Athletic Department moved back Friday home games to accommodate fan attendance.
