thank you very much for joining us, i m jon kelley. hundreds of bay area students are on their way home this morning with plenty of explaining to do. in just a few hours plenty of parents will xw grounding their kids or worse after bus loads of ski-bound teens were caught with loads of pot on a trip to utah. bob redell is live in lafayette this morning. we hear you ran into a student who was actually on board during the bust. what is he telling you? reporter: yes, marla, a junior here who returned home early, not because he did anything wrong. his coach wanted him back in time for this morning s soccer practice. the student who doesn t want to be identified tells what surprised him most about this drug bust involving lots of marijuana is that none of the students caught with the drugs were arrested. on tuesday five buses with 250 kids from several bay area high schools were driving to salt lake city for a ski trip during a pit stop in nevada, some students started smoking

a game between the sharks and vancouver canucks. as you mentioned, grace, she was attending the game with her sister. her name is maggie [ indiscernible ] , 16 years old from discovery bay. she moved to california from canada a couple of years ago. she and her sister wearing canuck gear attended that game. but i guess there is a woman in back of them in the row behind them who was a loyal sharks fan and when at one point during the game when the sharks scored a goal, that woman raised both her hands and smacked it right into the back of maggie s head. herger fell forward dazed. i guess what s distressing is that she has suffered a traumatic experience four years ago when she underwent surgery for a brain tumor. to this day it s benign. she said that woman had been harassing her all throughout the game and that woman was drunk. sharks released a statement last night. the sharks said that arena staff along with san jose police interviewed the person who made contact with the i
at acalanes high school. the organizers say that about 17 teens were found with drugs but elko police say that they found 250 teens and drugs on board when they searched five tour buses and discovered marijuana hallucinogens and alcohol. they say they were 45 miles from the utah destination when a store clerk reported passengers smoking in a parking lot. police dogs sniffed drugs. they gave the kids a choice, juvenile detention or turn over the drugs. people around me were freaking out because they didn t know if they should turn it in or not because if they didn t turn it in and every and got caught, the trip would be ruined if they didn t turned it in. the mavericks store people called us so our officers went with k-9 units and sheriff s department k-9 was there to assist us and the drug dogs hit on all five buses. reporter: the teens turned over the drugs. no one was arrested. elko police say the passengers included students from bay area high schools including acala
