KUCHING: Sarawak police have received three reports involving eight Sarawakians who fell victim to a job scam and were forced to work as scammers in Myanmar.
The Central Crime Station (CCS) has launched an investigation into the fake job permit fraud targeting Canadian employment opportunities. In one case, a 50-year-old unemployed man lost Rs 4 lakh after responding to an advertisement on Facebook and establishing contact with a consultancy claiming to be based in New Delhi. Another victim, a 23-year-old student, lost Rs 14.5 lakh after receiving a fake job letter for a Canadian position.
