We have sara glasser, the Deputy Director of secure fisheries and amy lair, the director of our human rights initiative. Thank you to the panel, and im going to sit down and be quiet and turn it over to my excellent panel, and well start off with heather. Thank you so much. Good morning, everyone. I think the arctic is the best place to talk about that intersection of climate stress and security. And in many ways the arctic is telling us, actually, both polar regions are telling us theyre under the most dramatic stress as the arctic certainly is warming two to three times faster than any place on the planet. And in many ways we are now dealing with a very new ocean. In fact, our former coast guard commandant called the arctic americas fourth coast. I thought that was a powerful way of thinking about it in part bec
Participants raised their hands and said yes. Thats an arguable position. There are arguments for and against that. But the first question you need to answer in this as in any other policy proposal is what is this going to cost. And there simply hasnt been very much interest or exploration in this question x. So thats why were releasing the two papers were releasing today and having this panel discussion, is precisely to get a sense of what it could cost us. Not definitive, these are estimates. Maybe theyll be different. Other people have other estimates. And so today were going to be, were releasing two papers to look at that. The first is a look at what the current cost to taxpayers are of, under current policy. The second is what the likely under a couple different scenarios costs would be. And this is a topic that needs to be injected int
Do you think hitler started with the culture and is that a way of controlling people and setting them up to exact what you want to do next, controlling what you are hearing on radio, the artwork, setting them up to be giving birth with the most important thing and having more aryan children and setting up a culture. I guess it would save your looking an american in politics, from the beginning straight through, we could even go past the civil war, youre talking about paradoxes and conflict and prop. Were not going to be creating monetary and the president isnt going to be a king but beyond the there was open ground. Theres a lot of improv in those early decades about with the nation is and how it functions, the tone of the government, how the station is going to stand up amongst nations of the worlds and other
