RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Friday, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson toured the Rapid City Monument Health COVID-19 vaccine center. South Dakota continues to rank in the top ten of states for vaccine distribution. Johnson says “Vaccines work, and what South Dakota is doing is working, as well .” “Our state has been a national leader in vaccine deployment, and today’s tour helped me understand why. The coordinated efforts of state government and healthcare providers like Monument are saving lives and allowing us to keep our schools open and our economy growing.”

  On Friday, the parking lot was full. There was a steady stream of older people. Workers quickly checked them in and directed them to a socially distant seating area. Everybody wore a mask.       “It is so exciting, I can’t tell you,” McCann said. “These people are coming out in their wheelchairs and their walkers. They’re so thrilled to get this vaccine. So we’re thrilled for them, too.”        “I’m glad I did,” Petersen said. “I hope everyone does. It’s painless. They’re very organized, and if we can stop this COVID by everybody getting vaccinated, it’d be nice.” 

Free turkey dinner served thanks to local residents, organizations

Article content A free turkey dinner was provided Dec. 12 to community members who are either home alone or cannot be around family this year due to Alberta’s COVID-19 gathering restrictions. The turkey dinner was made possible by teaming up with community members and organizations, said Connie Clement, who, along with Sandy Stoddard and Lynn Jones, came up with the idea of organizing the free turkey dinner.
