Children, guns found in car during overdose investigation, Crowley Police said

KLFY-TV10 CROWLEY (KLFY)  Crowley Police Department officers responded to a drug overdose Saturday and ended up taking an assault rifle from the hands of a 10-year-old child, KLFY-TV10 reported. When officers got to the scene at a Dairy Queen parking lot, they checked inside a vehicle in the parking lot and found an Oberlin man in the driver s seat. The man had apparently overdosed, according to the report. His wife, who was in the passenger seat, told police there was cocaine and fentanyl in the cup holder. In the back seat, officers found two handguns on the floor and a 10-year-old boy holding a loaded and live AK-47 rifle next to his three brothers and sisters. The children were ages 12, 10, 2 and 1 month old, according to KLFY.

Crowley Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested A Lafayette man is facing attempted murder and armed robbery charges in Acadia Parish. Crowley police say they arrested Shaquille Ledet on two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of armed robbery. According to Chief Jimmy Broussard, Ledet was already in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center at the time of his arrest on these charges. Broussard says Ledet is the suspect in a September 9 shooting on West 6th Street between Spann and Moore Avenues. Ledet is accused of shooting at a moving car in which two women were riding. Neither woman was wounded, but they were injured when they hit several ditches immediately after the shooting.

He was booked yesterday and is no longer in the jail, records show. Morgan joined the Duson Police Department on March 15, and was terminated yesterday after his arrest, Duson Police say. Morgan applied to the Duson Police more than a year ago, but there was a hiring freeze on because of the pandemic, Duson Chief Kip Judice says.
