Portland sheds anarchist jurisdiction label, Biden orders February 24 2021
Portland, New York and Seattle are no longer in a state of anarchy, according to an executive order issued by President Biden.
Anarchy in the Rose City is officially over.
The top-down decision to formally rescind the anarchist jurisdiction label stuck to Portland, Seattle and New York by former President Donald Trump was announced by the new boss, President Joe Biden, in an executive order promulgated on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Local officials including Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler were pleased with the news. It s great to have a partner in the federal government instead of an opponent, said Jim Middaugh, a spokesman for the mayor. It s time to move forward with the federal government towards the recovery every Portlander wants and needs.

Joe Biden on Wednesday formally revoked several executive orders that were signed by former President

“New Yorkers of all persuasions thank President Biden for his decisive action to undo this divisive and dangerous policy of the Trump Administration,” New York Attorney General
Letitia James (D) said in a statement on Thursday. “Threatening to cut off funding to New York City was not only a petty campaign stunt, but one that endangered every New Yorker as we continued to battle a public health crisis that has affected every corner of the nation. President Biden understands that real leadership requires bringing people together not using fearful rhetoric to divide us. Wi
President Joe Biden has decreed that the city of Portland will no longer be considered an “anarchist jurisdiction” in the eyes of the federal government.
