Lets go ahead and go back to storm scan3 looking over the last say, 12 hours or so, from this storm so we back you all the way to up yesterday afternoon. Take a look at what happens here. Youre see things sort to fizzle away in the center of the screen. You can even see up through allentown, reading how skies have even gun to clear somewhat. So, what happened was that there was a dry slot of air that started to nudge its way in. What that meant was a lot of the snow would start to evaporate as it tried to drop to the grounds and accumulate. And it is also known as an inverted trough. So essentially you have subsiding air, in other words singing air allowing that moisture to just evaporate away. And you

It wasnt the storm necessarily fizz link, rather a slot of dry air, you can see some breaks in the clouds, over chester county, and what that ended up doing was allowing any snow in a would try to fall, to evaporate. So you see how the western edge of the storm just stayed over new jersey. Now, that said, what are we left with at this point . It is still a big storm system. It just ended up almost just hopping over our area, and deciding oh, i dont really think you guys need that much snow, so ill move onto southeastern new england, so still specking some snow, just not the crazy totals we had initially anticipated over philadelphia. So, thats the essential meteorological definition whatever ended upgoing on here. And inverted trough, drier air, subsiding air allowing for the air to sing, in other words, and create drier conditions at the surface and also that storm took its sweet old time developing into what it is now. So, i would say, you know, icing isnt as much of a concern down in Atlantic City but ponding certainly is. So, it is just casino of variable. Depending where your travels take you here today either fine some icing issues or some snow to have to plow through or just a loft ponding on the roads.
