Looking to reduce gun violence and provide a safe space for victims, retired attorney Thomas Douglas, has begun to bring Toledoans together. Starting a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Peace & Healing, LLC, Douglas has begun collaborating with numerous local entities to fund and build a commons. The Peace and Healing Commons will be located at the Toledo Spain Plaza, near the Toledo Art Museum. Another goal of the nonprofit is to include the youth in the building of the commons, giving those at-risk an opportunity to learn trades and become more productive citizens.
