CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio Chagrin Falls Fire Marshal Jim Finley isn’t a stranger to life’s unexpected. Just one month ago he received a shocking cancer diagnosis out of the blue. I just went to work and wasn t feeling great and ended up at Ahuja Medical Center thanks to our medical director, Finley said. [I was] thinking I was just tired or something and then they said leukemia cancer center so it just sort of flipped my world upside down there.

For the second year in a row, Meridenâs annual St. Patrickâs Day parade has been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic.Â
The largest parade in Central Connecticut, run by the Meriden Ancient Order of Hibernians, features over 200 groups, including local youth organizations and marching bands.
âThere hasnât been clearance from the state or the city to have an outdoor event with that many people involved,â said Jim Finley, parade co-chair. âBecause of the pandemic, we havenât had an opportunity to raise funds to put on the parade.âÂ

REGION Long before the coronavirus pandemic struck, volunteers throughout Regional School District 73 were making a difference for students. While there have had to be some changes, even more is being done for students within the schools they attend now.
“One thing about this community, it’s always been amazing, comes together in a time of crisis,” high school guidance counselor Chris Beaudion said at the Jan. 14 school board meeting.
Judy Hamilton of Hartford has stitched almost 1,600 masks for students at the elementary school. She has made almost 6,000 masks to date and came to help the local school in a roundabout way.
