Committee to review what to do with Scituate Harbor Community Building

“When I go through the comments I see a lot for some kind of boating, a kayak launch, a dock or piers,” said Town Administrator Jim Boudreau.  “We really don’t have access to the water from that location.  There are docks, piers and boat yards blocking our access to the water from that location.” The need for restroom facilities and additional parking in the Harbor has been an ongoing issue; something also mentioned in the survey comments.  Boudreau said restrooms could be a benefit as the Scituate Harbor Community Building property is about midway between the popular sites at the Harbor and Cedar Point and the Lighthouse.

After a two-hour meeting Tuesday night, members of the board of selectmen agreed they should ask Scituate Wind LLC to calculate the costs to the town of shutting down the turbine when the wind blows from the west and for up to eight hours every night. While select board members disagreed on issues over speed and timing, they all agreed the turbine needs to be stopped from running when it casts a shadow over nearby residences, causing a flicker effect.
