The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) and Minority Forum Pakistan organized a seminar titled "Effective participation of minorities in Elections" in Lahore wherein the representatives of the political parties presented the position of their parties regarding minorities' rights, and agreed to take practical steps to address the outstanding issues faced by minorities.
A panel discussion on the theme “The Scope of Article 20 and the Constitution of Pakistan and Practices” involving renowned jurists, journalists and human rights activists including Peter Jacob, Saroop Ijaz Advocate and Benazir Shah was held at Lahore.
The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) organized a seminar on “political parties’ priorities and minorities’ rights” wherein speakers emphasized that political parties must invest in efforts to promote social cohesion and address human rights issues faced by marginalized groups.
The human rights groups have voiced their concerns regarding the government’s plan to conduct the digital population census 2022 in haste, and have urged the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to revise the census questionnaire, ensure an accurate count of everyone, and involve civil society in the census monitoring to avoid controversies, build trust, and bring credibility and transparency.
The speakers and participants at a Conference have called upon the federal and provincial governments to take legally effective and serious measures to comply with seven court orders regarding minorities’ rights.
