The BJP-led South Delhi Municipal Corporation has cleared a proposal that will now make it mandatory for restaurants and shops in south Delhi to display whether the meat being sold or served is cut using the
halal or

A senior official of the SDMC said the House cleared it in its special meeting on Wednesday.
South Delhi has a number of eateries, restaurants and streetside shops selling or serving non-vegetarian food items, prominent places being markers at Defence Colony, Amar Colony, Sarojini Nagar, South Extension, and INA.

New Delhi [India], January 21 (ANI): The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday passed a proposal that makes it mandatory to write halal or jhatka for the meat being served and sold by restaurants and meat shops.
According to the SDMC, appropriate action is likely to be taken against those found violating the rules. Halal means permissible in Arabic. Food items made from halal meat are certified to be permissible for Muslims to eat. Jhatka is another method of slaughtering an animal. (ANI)
