On Saturday, officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrived at the residence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren to interrogate him regarding a money laundering case associated with an alleged land scam. Soren, 48, who serves as the executive president of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), had previously evaded seven summons from the ED. Ultimately, he acquiesced to the investigation agency s eighth summons and agreed to participate in the questioning.

Earlier on December 12, CM Soren was asked to appear before the agency for questioning but the Chief Minister skipped the proceedings. The BJP earlier criticised the Jharkhand CM for continuously skipping the summons.
